Hooters Casino Hotel is set to open to the public in Las Vegas on Friday, Feb. 3.
The 711-room hotel, site of the former San Remo Hotel and Casino, will be decked out in Hooters attire, from its famous wings to its equally famous servers.
Hooters Management Group, whose six founders started the Hooters concept in Clearwater in 1984, will manage the property, but it will only own one third. Former owners of the San Remo and a Hooters franchisee in Fort Myers will own the rest.
The Hooters group also owns 22 restaurants in Florida, Illinois and New York. In 2001, it sold the Hooters trademark and franchise rights to Atlanta-based Hooters of America Inc.
The group spent $65 million renovating the former San Remo Hotel, but it still pales in size when compared to the giants on the strip. The nearby MGM Grand Hotel has more than 5,000 rooms.
Located one block off the strip, next door to the Tropicana Hotel, Hooters Casino Hotel hopes to draw customers who want a smaller, home-like atmosphere of sports, beer and chicken wings, the company said in a release.
