Gov. Corzine said that the 11 casinos established in Atlantic City should be completely smoke free, however, the partial smoking ban enacted recently should do for now.
The governor said that under the current legislation -casinos will have to wall off 25% of their casino floors and make those new rooms smoking areas- smoking areas will be separated from smoke-free areas.
The governor’s comments are the result of the heavy pressure made by casino employees, which want a state’s ban on smoking in public places extended to the casinos.
The current ban don’t prohibit smoking in some casino areas because legislators fear it would hurt New Jersey’s tourism economy.
