Redistribution of Casino Revenues
Harrison County wants to reduce Crawford casino’s revenues
Crawford County leaders are asking Harrison County council not to reduce their casino revenues from casino taxes.

Concerns arose as the council prepared the renew of its annual agreements for sharing casino’s tax money.

Crawford County is one of the state’s poorest, and it’s receiving 8% of the revenues, when other counties in the Harrison’s County list receive only 3%.

This difference was going to end, but Crawford County leaders are meeting with the council to re-negotiate the deal. A contingent has already met with the council, thanking for the sharing of revenues and talked about plans to improve schools among other plans that need that extra income.

The contingent asked for at least a year before the reduction, so the budget could be adjust to the new lower income.

The decision has been postponed until December 11.
