Online Casino Pays $10.600 For `Virgin Mary´ Pretzel
An other purchase of the online casino known for buying oddities on the web
GoldenPalace.com, an online casino known for buying oddities on the web, has paid $10,600 on EBay for a pretzel shaped like the Virgin Mary holding baby Jesus.
The Antigua-based company said it waited until the last 30 seconds before submitting the winning bid March 9 on the Internet auction site.
Machell Naylor, St. Paul, Neb., said her daughter Crysta, 12, found the Rold Gold honey-mustard pretzel while snacking and watching TV with her family.
"We all had a feeling of warmth and spirituality when holding the pretzel," Naylor wrote in describing the snack, which came in a $3.29 bag of the pretzels.
The money is being donated to charity, GoldenPalace.com said. In return, the casino gave Crysta a pony on her birthday on Thursday.
Other items recently bought by GoldenPalace.com, which uses them for marketing purposes, include a partially eaten grilled cheese sandwich with the likeness of the Virgin Mary. The company paid $28,000.
The casino also bought pop singer Britney Spears' pregnancy test and a Volkswagen Golf that was once owned by Pope Benedict XVI.
