The Mohawk Tribe Council said it would add a 400-room hotel and double the payroll of its Akwesasne Mohawk Casino. The investment will be of 100 million dollars.
The project will relocate the Mohawk Bingo Palace, add a convention center and up to eight restaurants. The casino employs about 700 people but the number is going to be doubled after the end of the expansion.
The announcement comes as a result of the growth of the demand and earnings of the casino since 1999. The new development will include slots, table games and other forms of gambling.
